I was sent a link to a song which is absolutely hilarious but sadly very true by a lovely Facebook friend from Kentucky who is a Democrat it seems as she dislikes Trump et al and what the Republicans are doing to the US immensely.
I investigated the Website and they have a whole lot of funny songs which I think most of Avenue Viet would appreciate which are parodies of various other songs..
The one I first heard was Confounds the Science which I know you know which song that it taken from.
LYRICS to CONFOUNDS THE SCIENCE
(Written by Don Caron – Music by Simon & Garfunkel)
Hello darkness my old friend.
It’s time for him to tweet again,
but first he’ll have to check in with fox news
‘cause that’s the only place he gets his views.
That’s how things get planted in his brain,
where they remain,
and it confounds the science.
The problem is he’s not alone.
He tweets to people on his phone
that global warming is a giant hoax
perpetuated by the liberal folks,
and he hires people that all think the same,
that play his game
and it confounds the science.
When he talks to crowds of four
he sees ten thousand maybe more,
believing they all think he’s god on earth
and was the product of a virgin birth
and if you disagree you’re the victim of fake news
or feminist shrews
and it confounds the science.
“Fools,” says he, “you do not know
it makes me smart from so much dough.
I know exactly where the problems are.”
But his solutions are beyond bizarre
‘cause his words never quite a sentence make
and thus he spake
and it confounds the science.
No limits on pollution now.
There’s not a thing we don’t allow.
Dump the garbage in the waterway.
Spray the toxins where your children play.
All the signs say that life on the planet is headed for a downward fall.
Go to the mall,
and continue to confound the science.
LYRICS to WHERE HAVE ALL THE STATESMEN GONE? (Written and performed by Don Caron)
Where have all the Statesmen gone, those we could depend upon?
Wisdom and diplomacy have taken their last breath.
Where have all the statesmen gone?
Now politicians every one.
When will we ever learn? When will we ever learn?
Where do politicians go, once they’ve served their well paid terms?
where do they go when they move on?
They go to corporate firms. Where do politicians go?
To corporate jobs to make more dough.
As CEOs they take their turn.
When will we ever learn?
Where do CEOs then land, with their golden parachutes?
What is the path that they have planned,
when laying aside their fancy suits?
Where do CEOs get sent.
They’re working for the government, providing corporate return!
When will we ever learn?
No question these are millionaires.
They earned it so it must be theirs.
And where does all this earning go, what is the natural flow?
They look for Statesmen they can buy.
But Statesmen are in short supply,
so politicians have to do.
They have the same corporate view.
Where have all the Statesmen gone?
not one to grasp the passed baton
wisdom and diplomacy have gasped their final breath
where have all the Statesmen gone
drowned in money every one
When will we ever learn? When will we ever learn? _________________ Beware! Kangaroo Crossing!
LYRICS TO THE BALLAD OF THE WALL
Lyrics by Don Caron – Music “Eighth of January” (American folk fiddle tune)
In 2018 they plan a little trip
to plug up all the leaks along the southern border strip.
They plan to surprise ‘em and to make a big arrest
cause the president he told ‘em that they didn’t send their best
They passed some laws but illegals kept a comin’.
There wasn’t nigh as many as there was a while ago.
They gathered ‘em up and started to deport ‘em
down to the border and back to Mexico.
They gathered a militia and they named it after ice
Wanted to be positive it didn’t sound too nice
They searched in the churches and the schools and the mall
And the president announced that he was gonna build a wall.
The prez made rules but the courts overturned ‘em.
He was ill-convinced that illegals had to go.
He made some threats and that was disconcertin’
So they headed for the border and back to Mexico.
You’d think we’d see why we wouldn’t want a wall
Those people pay their taxes, 12 billion all in all.
They pick all the fruit and the veggies from the field
It’s pretty clear they end up on the raw end of the deal
But the spread some lies, try to make em look like bad guys
sayin’ that they’re criminals and on the public dole
When it comes to fake news that one gets the grand prize
Always change reality to fit the current goal
Well we chase em through the briars
and we chase em through the brambles
‘cause we need someone to blame when our economy is slow
We’d better face the fact that our thinking is in shambles
And our problems ain’t coming from a place called Mexico.
Now the fruit is hanging in the bushes and the trees
and the farmers are a beggin’ won’t someone pick it please
billions of dollars just a rottin’ on the ground
and the gringos won’t do it – not a single worker found
I wonder what we’ll do when they all just stop a comin’
They handle all the jobs that we refuse to do
Best of luck to you if it’s a farm that your runnin’
’cause chances are you’re never gonna find another crew.
Well we e chased em through the briars
and we chased em through the brambles
And why we wanna do that I guess I’ll never know
We’d better face the fact that our thinking is in shambles
And our problems ain’t coming from a place called Mexico.

I haven’t listened to all of them yet, but the three I did are very creative and funny.
I did have an extra laugh about the slow economy line, but I’ll forgive.
Writing for existing melodies is fun, and cheaper than hiring a studio do all original work. But you lose the connection people have fun making between the old and the new if it is all new.
