I didn't know about this, but it sounds interesting that the integrity of the "Dossier" is being challenged by.... Russians!!! Very Happy How cool is that! Exclamation

"WASHINGTON -- Three powerful Russian businessmen who control the country’s largest commercial bank have filed the second of two defamation lawsuits in connection with a salacious intelligence report involving President Donald Trump.

The lawsuit, filed October 3 by Pyotr Aven, Mikhail Fridman, and German Khan, alleged that the intelligence report, known commonly as the Steele dossier, harmed their professional reputations and “[impaired] business opportunities that resulted from the blatantly false and defamatory statements and implications about them.”

The suit, filed in U.S. federal court in Washington, D.C., targets the private Washington-based research and intelligence firm Fusion GPS, founded by a former Wall Street Journal reporter. The dossier was compiled by a former British intelligence agent initially for Trump’s Republican rivals, and funding for the report was later taken over by Democratic opponents.

After circulating among several news organizations who sought to corroborate its allegations, the dossier was published in full in January by BuzzFeed, which the three sued earlier this year, also for defamation.

A spokesperson for Fusion GPS did not immediately return an e-mail seeking comment.

BuzzFeed faces another separate but similar lawsuit from a Russian businessman.

Aven, Fridman, and Khan are the primary owners of Alfa Bank, a major Russia investment bank that was named in part of the dossier as being part of Russian government efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

All three are considered to be so-called oligarchs, wealthy businessmen who once wielded substantial political power in Russia but have been largely reined in by President Vladimir Putin’s Kremlin.

Alfa Bank reportedly came under FBI investigation for what appeared to be mysterious computer transmissions between its computer servers and that of Trump’s private business organization. The FBI has never commented on the inquiry, but The New York Times later reported investigators had concluded there was nothing amiss.

Here's the latest report about Christopher Steele's defense to the lawsuits against him over the "Dossier"... He is backing off his claims of authenticity where lying under oath would result in prison time... Amazing !! Very Happy

The Worm Turns...wink

It IS Bogus
by JD Heyes Newstarget

Former British spy Christopher Steele, the man behind the drafting of the now-infamous “Trump dossier,” once confidently proclaimed that our president was so inextricably linked to Russian government figures that Vladimir Putin himself could drop a dime on Donald J. Trump anytime he wanted.

Steele also claimed that Trump aides were part of some vast conspiracy with Moscow to “steal the election” from Hillary Clinton, someone who Putin reportedly despised so much he’d do anything to see her lose.

But now, as Steele is forced to defend himself against charges of slander and libel for things he wrote in the dossier — that was subsequently published by Buzzfeed — he doesn’t appear to be quite so confident in his earlier claims.

As in, he doesn’t sound like a man who continues to believe what he wrote a year ago.

As reported by The Washington Times, once upon a time Steele “matter-of-factly” stated in the dossier that there was collusion between Team Trump and Team Moscow. But some months later in court, he now claims that such collusion was only “possible.”

This all takes on added importance now as Republicans close in on discovering whether the bogus dossier for which nothing contained within has been verified was used by anti-Trump elements within the FBI and Justice Department to obtain a FISA court warrant to spy on the Republican presidential nominee’s campaign last year. (Related: REVEALED: The FBI plot to overthrow the presidency and commit organized TREASON in America.)

Steele’s unsubstantiated garbage was further spread by the Democrat-aligned opposition research firm that hired Steele — Fusion GPS. Also, the Times noted, Steele once boasted to Mother Jones magazine he was the one who started Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation by convincing the FBI last summer that his dossier was real.

And of course, we now also know that the dossier was bought and paid for by Trump’s opponent, Hillary Clinton. Nothing odd or weird about that, right?

In any event, now that Steele has to defend his allegations in court, “his confidence level has shifted down several notches,” the Times noted.

As The National Sentinel reported in April, Steele was upset when Buzzfeed published the dossier in January, probably because he knew then it was all BS. Though the so-called “mainstream” media ignored it, Steele also seemed at the time to repudiate the dossier when he acknowledged in court filings that at least some of the allegations contained in the document were unverified.

In his dossier, Steele claimed without a hint of reservation that an “extensive conspiracy between Trump’s campaign team and the Kremlin” existed. He wrote that as a hotel builder and entrepreneur, Trump was involved in an eight-year partnership with Russian intelligence that dated back long before his presidential campaign, the Times noted.

During that alleged relationship, both sides traded information.

One of Steele’s memos even claimed that the Kremlin had compiled so much financial and personal information about Trump and his businesses that the Kremlin could blackmail him at any time (a claim that actually makes more sensewhen applied to Hillary Clinton).

The Times noted further:

He wrote that Paul Manafort, Mr. Trump’s former campaign manager, and a campaign volunteer, Carter Page, in tandem orchestrated the campaign with Moscow to meddle in the race. He also maintained that Michael Cohen, Mr. Trump’s attorney, traveled to Prague in August 2016 to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s personal staff and orchestrate a cover-up of the campaign’s hacking conspiracy.

All of those charges have been denied, and none has been confirmed publicly by a press leak or congressional inquiry.

Now that he’s in court, Steele is changing his tune — a lot.

In one response, Steele described the intelligence he gathered as “limited.” Regarding the charge of collusion between Team Trump and Russia, he now claims that there is only a “possible connection.”

This dossier — bought and paid for by Clinton and a Clinton-aligned firm — was never real, and we’re now seeing that proven as Steele attempts to defend the indefensible.

The Washington Times is known to be right-wing, like the NY Post in NY.

I didn't know the National Sentinel and looked it up. Their ad blurb says it all about their bias:

Quote:
The National Sentinel – Where media credibility makes a comeback (!)
https://thenationalsentinel.com/

Are you tired of being lied to by the big corporate media? Are you tired of the fake news? Are you tired of the predictable Left-wing bias? Do you want to see honest, fair, and truly balanced coverage of President Donald J. Trump?* Then you need to make sure you're getting The National Sentinel's stories emailed directly...

I couldn't find a media outlet called "NationalSecurity.news", only National Security sections in various papers.

A look at www.thecommonsenseshow.com showed an unequivocal bias anti-Hillary and pro-Trump.

You and Whomping Willow are a pair, UnMask! All those "news" without a shred of supporting evidence... Rolling Eyes

* Italics mine. For a balanced view of Trump, one just needs to watch him and read his tweets. Without the spin either the right or the left put on it. One can think for oneself. As for "fake news" - what to say about a president who averages 5.5 lies a day? Rolling Eyes

So there's no lawsuit against Christopher Steele by the Russians?

Christopher Steele is not testifying in court?

Christopher Steele was not quoted in "Mother Jones"?

And, as reported on TV news flash while I type this, a judge has ordered that the banking records of Fusion GPS be turned over so that who paid for the dossier that Christopher Steele is running from can be revealed.

The records will likely also show how much was paid to Christopher Steele for the dossier.

This could be fun...

Very Happy shameless grin very happy Wink

It's all rather irrelevant seeing Alexander Downer came forth with the drunken ravings of Papadopoulos and alerted the relevant people so the US investigation was onto this really early on and most likely nothing will happen to Steele anyway... Dream on you ostriches...

On the tube it is reported the Christopher Steele has been referred to the Justice Department by two senators.
It appears he has lied to FBI agents, the same crime Flynn was convicted of a few weeks ago. Confused
This ostrich dreams on.. Smile

Steele's dossier WAS used to get a warrant from the FISA as per reporter Sara Carter. This warrant, which was aquired because of the fake information in the dossier, was used to attack the Trump campaign.

The dossier, as reported by The New York Times and Washington Post, was paid for by Hillary Clinton's campaign and The Democratic National Committee.

Oh Unmask you really need to get out more and learn about the truth... the Fusion firm who hired Steele to investigate have repeatedly said the real facts but you seem to forget about them and the fact that Alexander Downer reported what he learned at the wine club when Papadopoulos was drunk and shot off his mouth about the Russians which incidentally confirms what Steele found out was true.... Sheesh read the stuff before you shoot off your mouth just for once in your life for Feks sake.... (fek is the Irish way of saying you should guess what super grin)
