Another one of the interesting threads that disappeared in cyberspace following the crash. Along with "Looking ahead to 2020". Ah well. Pale sigh

Ted Cruz Says Republicans Facing “Bloodbath” In 2018 Midterm Elections
Republican Senator Ted Cruz believes that his Party’s constant legislative failures could easily lead to a “bloodbath” for the Republican Party in the 2018 midterm elections. Of course, if his Party was successful in pushing the policies they’ve championed, they would also likely be facing an end to their careers. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains how the Republicans backed themselves into a corner by proposing harmful policies that will never win.

Democratic wave in 2018?
Cook Political Report predicts a democratic party wave across America in the 2018 midterm elections.

We did see the beginning of the wave this year. In Virginia, New Jersey and most of all Alabama! This guy here is pessimistic. But then this was a month ago, before Ruby-Red Alabama turned Blue. super grin What did Bannon say again about 2020? That Trump would win in a landslide? Hah, seems less and less likely.

Several months ago, when I told UnMask that I thought the Democrats would retake control of Congress in 2018, he looked skeptical and amused, told me how many governorships, mayorships and seats in the Senate and the House the Democrats had lost in 2016 (not to mention of course the presidency.) I haven't discussed the matter with him again lately, but I think it very obvious that the political landscape has changed. Look at the special elections we saw this year - Virginia, NJ, ALABAMA!

This is old - from back in April 2017. But still. Things have actually improved for Democrats in the past 8 months. Very Happy

Republicans Are Already In Danger Of Losing The House In 2018 Midterms
According to the latest projections, Republicans are already in bad shape for the 2018 midterms. While there is still plenty of time for them to regain the upper hand, their legislative record and lack of enthusiasm among the public will likely be difficult to overcome, regardless of how much money they spend next year.

[Good Morning America] JOHN SANTUCCI

President Donald Trump met Wednesday in the Oval Office with top aides -- including both current White House staffers and outside advisers -- to discuss the 2018 midterm elections, sources with knowledge of the meeting confirmed to ABC News.

The meeting's attendees included White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, Counselor to the President Kellyanne Conway, White House Political Director Bill Stepien, White House Communications Director Hope Hicks, as well as former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and another outside adviser, Brad Parscale, who ran the Trump 2016 digital operation. Lewandowski and Parscale are currently advisers to America First Policies, a non-profit organization that supports Trump.

During the meeting, Lewandowski took aim at the Republican National Committee, along with some White House operations, the sources said.

Sources told ABC News that the president listened as his staff and outside advisers spoke, but he did not have any notable reaction during the discussion.

After the meeting, Lewandowski and Stepien got into a heated exchange outside the Oval Office about the midterm elections, according to sources.

Lewandowski has not responded to a request for comment from ABC News.
