"Modern" (as opposed to Classic) anti-war songs, so as to play in the current category of the Ten Songs game. I found this site for anti-war songs written after 2000.

Catching up on the songs posted in the Ten Songs game. The current category (Getting back a lost love) has pretty cool songs. Music

To the poster above: a choice inspired by your screen name

Hero, by Skillet:

Most people who know me are surprised that I like headbanging music...I do, though, in certain moods at least!

It should have occured to me that a lyric video would be helpful on an ESOL website, so:

Here's one with lyrics on.

Anything but syrupy Christmas music which you can't escape anywhere you go (store, restaurant, supermarket, elevator, etc.) right now. Pale sigh

Mind you, I like some of the Christmas songs. But enough is enough.

The radio station I usually listen to plays syrupy Christmas music 24/7 starting the day after Thanksgiving. I get sick of it--unless I switch to another station, which mixes Christmas music with other Christian music. They don't even play mostly Christian Christmas music, they throw in a whole lot of White Christmas and Let it Snow and Frosty and Rudolph and Jingle Bell Rock... et cetera ad infinitum ad nauseum. Razz

Speaking of sick of it:

Yeah, still kind of on a Skillet kick.

For Christmas music I like

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uC3O_ztCWOM

And

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxcD402wBrY

In the heavy metal genre.

Lots of others, too--what I don't like is shrill nasally jazzed up Christmas Carols, like somebody who sounds like Cindy Lauper singing Jingle Bell Rock. Unfortunately it seems to be a favorite of the DJ's at my favorite radio station.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfJoq2gjeyU = dead as in just shoot me now, I don't want to listen to this once a month let alone once an hour for four weeks.

And of course the Christmas music stops abruptly at midnight on the 26th. Which, if you're celebrating **Christ** mass, is ridiculous. If you're looking forward to the birth of a special baby, do you stop being happy and excited about the baby on the 2nd day of his life? No. A thousand times no.

I like the European traditions of 12 days of Christmas, where people keep on celebrating until 12th night/Epiphany/Feast of the Kings. Makes so much more sense than what we silly Americans do. Pregnant woman are not at their happiest between week 36 and week 40 of their gestational period. Celebrating when the baby is seven to twelve days old is much more fun!

What about these highly politicized (by the pictures used - and, in the second one, the background reading of the news) renditions of "Silent Night"?

Agreement totally.

Besides, the Orthodox Christians (Russians for example) celebrate Christmas on Twelfth Night, not on 25 December.
