I usually like Patterson, but I couldn't get past 50 pages into this book.

53. Napoleon in America, by Shannon Selin

I had great hopes for this book - being a fan of both Napoleon and alternate history stories. But this one bored me half-way to death. I hung on, though, and finished it (only 293 pages, any longer I'd have given up). Shannon Selin may be a good historian (I don't know, but Murat recommended her biography of Élisa Bonaparte, that's how I came to find out about "Napoleon in America"), but she's a terrible novelist. When I have the time, I'll post a scathing review on Amazon. one sleep

I know it's almost blasphemy, but I can't help it. I could never get past half of the first volume, let alone the whole series.
