Mimosa, Rob! If witchie gets that Quaffle, Parkins Pincer!!

Fortunately for the Reds, the referees seem distracted and are not doing their jobs. This should have rated at least a Yellow card if not a Red card! super grin bleh

*Mmm... what is the Parkins Pincer?*- LesBleus thinks he'd better keep his eyes open and thwart that maneuver if he can, so that Witchsmart can get the Quaffle. He directs Sirrush to hover near, ready to intervene if need be.

Play lots of Dragon Quidditch, people, but follow the rules? At least god-mode someone besides me into breaking them next time!!

A call in the wilderness, Laurelluin!

Seems all Quidditch players and commentators were too busy celebrating the US Labor Day. The pitch is deserted. Sad lonely

The weekend's over, folks. The game has resumed. Do come in and play!!!

What did we open the DQ thread game for if you won't come in? Has anyone tried again to get more players/commentators from the CoS crowd, including through ArryGrotter's site?

Witchsmart lunges forward onto her dragon's neck and just barely snatches the Quaffle away from Mimosa's outstretched hands. The three Blue chasers immediately swoop into action, with Rob and Mimosa flying on either side of witchsmart while Asteria starts charging at her down the middle!

Cedric: Ah, I see the Blue team is enacting the popular, "Parkin's Pincer."

Lee: Would you mind giving those members of the audience who haven't thoroughly perused their "Quidditch Through the Ages" a brief explanation of what's happening on the field?

Cedric: Not at all. The Parkin's Pincer is a tactic named after the original Wigtown Wanderers who are popularly believed to have invented the move. It involves two Chasers who close in on an opposing Chaser, in this case, the unlucky witchsmart, preventing her from escaping. Meanwhile, the third Chaser, Asteria here, flies directly at the trapped Chaser, forcing them to release the Quaffle. It's a dangerous move on brooms, and on dragons these players need to be very careful.

Lee: Not that our refs seem to be paying much attention at the moment. They are both seriously acting out of character, especially Snape.

Luna: I have a theory about that actually--

Lee: Yes, well as much as I'm sure we'd love to hear about how the humzee-whatists are rolling around in their auras, or whatever, witchsmart's now going to have to make a choice--give up the Quaffle or risk a collision?

Witchsmart looks on either side of her in frustration, unable to move as Asteria approaches with increasing speed. Suddenly she spots a flash of wings just below her. In a sudden burst of inspiration, she directs Anamaria to fly sharply upwards. Rob and Mimosa turn with her and Asteria flies up to intercept--but witchsmart drops the Quaffle and it plunges past the four rapidly climbing dragons and straight into the hands of the waiting LesBleus!

Cedric (admiringly): That is pure genius! That witchsmart is quite something, isn't she?

LesBleus seizes the Quaffle and loses no time flying towards the Blues' goal posts. Cho yells at her team, "Hey guys, wake up! Don't let him score!"

Laurelluin and Inkling swoop in, bats ready. Inkling directs a bludger at LesBleus who ducks easily, only to have Laure's bludger knock the quaffle out of his hands. Luckily for the Reds, Roar is there and beats Asteria to it. Roar is in possession!! She's a rookie player, though, so we don't know the extent of her talents. Rob and Mimosa keep a sharp eye on her, ready to take advantage of any mistake she may make.

Snape and his fellow referee finally seem to turn their attention back to the game. What could they have been talking about that was so engrossing they seemed totally out of it?

Roar and Smaug speed towards the Blues' goalposts, hoping to put the Reds into the lead. But Rob and Mimosa are right on her tail, and it doesn't look like they're going to give her much room to shoot.

witchsmart: The Blues aren't the only ones with a few tricks up their sleeves. Roar, Woollongong Shimmy!

Lee: Well, that's a move you don't see done on a dragon every day! Cedric, if you wouldn't mind filling everyone in . . .

Cedric: Of course. What Roar is doing now is referred to as the "Woollongong Shimmy, which was perfected by the Australian Woollongong Warriors--

Lee: Try saying that five times fast!

Cedric: --and requires the chaser in possession of the Quaffle to engage in a high-speed zigzagging movement to throw off the opposing Chasers. It's a move that requires immense skill and precision, and I'm surprised Roar is pulling it off, and on a dragon no less.

Lee: Hmm, might have spoken a bit too soon there. Although Roar did succeed in throwing off the other Chasers, both her and her dragon are looking very disorientated. If she doesn't recover quickly--

LesBleus: Roar, your left!

Roar tosses the Quaffle over to her passing teammate but still appears to be a bit dizzy.

LesBleus: No, your other left!

Suddenly, witchsmart darts up and seizes the Quaffle.

witchsmart: Either one works for me!

Lee: Great recovery! Now both witchsmart and LesBleus are headed towards the Blues' goalposts, and it looks like they might finally be able to bring this game out of a tie as they both enter the scoring area--

Cedric: Uh-oh, that sounds like the Refs' whistle!

Madame Hooch: Foul! Stooging Chasers!

Cedric: How unfortunate. It seems that the Reds are being fouled for two of their Chasers entering the scoring area, a rule that was established to prevent the Chasers from ganging up on the Keeper and preventing him or her from blocking the hoops.

Lee: Oh so now they start paying attention to the rules . . .

Madame Hooch: Blues now gain possession of the Quaffle! Play resumes!

Lee: Well we can always count on Madame Hooch to keep us on the straight and narrow. Snape's been acting very off though, he's been paying especially close attention to The Jabberwocky.

Luna: I think--

Lee: Rob takes possession of the Quaffle and the match continues!

Uh Oh. Trouble brewing.

Dobby has to warn Master Bill! Master is not himself in this game. Looks like Master is barely there. When he is, all he does is lovingly gaze as Miss Cho. That's no way to play a Quidditch match.

Dobby can't understand what's wrong with Professor Snape either. Question

Master Robb is in possession. He's a good player. Dobby would hope he scores, except he's in the opposite team to Master Bill, and Dobby's loyalties are divided.

Lee: Rob has possession of the Quaffle, but it's a tough battle to hang on to it. He's being swarmed by the Red chasers who are not happy about losing possession so close to the goalposts. Fortunately for Rob the Blues have a strong set of beaters on their team, with Laurelluin and Inkling keeping the Reds at bay. My goodness, folks, it's a regular, raging, riot of rage out there.

McGonagall: Jordan.

Lee: You're right, Professor, that was out of line, I apologize. No more annoying, antiquated alliterations.

Luna: *muttering* We need better writers.

Cedric: Huh?

Luna: Nothing. Smile

Lee: The Blues are trying hard to maintain possession of the Quaffle, while the Reds are trying equally hard to get it. Rob, Mimosa, and Asteria have been executed a series of short passes to each other, but no one has been able to make a break for the goal posts. Everyone is crowded in the middle of the field, except for the two seekers, Cho and Bill, who are circling the pitch in search of that ever-elusive snitch.

Cedric: And there's the whistle from Madam Hooch and Professor Snape. It appears that there has been an excessive bit of cobbling going on in the fight for the Quaffle.

Lee: Unfortunately with so many dragons in the air, it might take them awhile to sort out the penalties. So, in the meantime, why don't we welcome in one of our surprise guests, Mrs. Ginny Potter!

Ginny: Hello there, Jordan, Luna, Diggory.

Lee: Ginny, as a former professional Quidditch player yourself, would you mind telling us a bit about the many fouls and penalties that can occur in the midst of a match.

Ginny: I'd love to. I'm sure it's no surprise to anyone that Quidditch players can get rough out there on the field. There are over 700 fouls listed in the Department of Magical Games and Sports records, and besides the usual fouls of cobbling, flacking, and stooging, there are quite a few interesting ones that have gone down in the record books.

Lee: Could you give us a few examples?

Ginny: Well, some of my favorites include transfiguring a Chaser into a polecat mid-match, an attempted decapitation of a Keeper with a broadsword, and the release of one hundred blood-sucking vampire bats from under a Captain for Transylvania's robes during a game.

Lee: Wow, that makes our fouls seem tame in comparison! Speaking of which, it looks like Madam Hooch has finally come to a decision.

Madam Hooch: A penalty for each side! Mimosa will shoot for the Blues and Roar for the Reds!

Lee: Mimosa goes first, but Ron's not cutting her a break, and blocks an impressive feint to the left goalpost. Now it's Roar's turn to shoot against Oliver Wood and--it's in! Ten points to the Reds and bad luck to Wood there.

Score:
Reds: 20
Blues: 10
