This morning:

Ministry of Interior in Iraq abolished Saddam's alcohol, night clubs and casinos restriction law which was introduced in the 90's.

Somebody please issue a fatwa against those imposters. How dare they deceived us. They promised they going create an Islamic State in Iraq. They promised a burqa for every woman. They promised to chopped hands and stone adulteresses. They lied.

No wait a minute, they did not say those things. It is the stupid liberal pundits in the West who said them.

Of course they will adopt laws that will please their American patrons right now, are you kidding me? However, gov't may do this and that - but it's the people who make their own law in the streets of Iraq right now, or at least the extremist elements. Christians who owned liquor stores had to close them and move away because they were looted and their lives threatened. Present Iraqi Gov't don't have much power, state ministers are targets for assassination, as is their budding police force. Who's gonna enforce the law and risk Islamist bombings and harassment? It's when the Islamists get their way that they will reinstate burkhas, hand-chopping, stoning, etc. Already in Afghanistan, outside the tiny area controlled by Karzai, little girls are harassed and threatened if they go to school, women wear burkhas to be safe. After the Americans leave (they can't stay there forever) things will revert back in both countries. It will be like Nigeria or Sudan.

I wasn't aware there were laws restricting alcohol under Saddam, though I know liquor stores were owned and run by Christians, not Moslems.

During the First Gulf War, Saddam found religion. He even include "Allah Akbar" on the flag. Many of the religious laws were written during those periods, numerous mosques were built.

The whole bullshit about no alcohol is, well, bullshit. Except in isolate villages, people were drinking alcohol where I was deployed. Turkish beers imported through Kurdistan are very popular. So are Lebanese music video showing sexy girl. Nancy Ajram (picture) is a very hot Lebanese singer, she is so popular that he sexy posters are everywhere in Iraq.

UPDATE: The bastard Zarqawi is seriously wounded. Hope his death be most painful.
