Any new member is welcome, and doubly so if he or she is a Harry Potter fan! So, to Mr. Watch. super grin

BTW, what exactly do you watch? wonder

I remember seeing a lot more Welcome messages than these... Where did they all go, or were they posted elsewhere? confused

They're scattered all over the place. The present thread here is more visible because it's a "sticky" and stays on top of the page. But there are welcome messages in the Meet and Greet Pub, in this subforum a little farther down (where we were welcoming the BSG fans) and sometimes following the new member's first post.

We're not very well-organized as far as sorting out Welcome messages are concerned. super grin

This sub-forum has lost its original purpose. It has somehow become the rallying point for Harry Potter fans. The Admins therefore decided to rename it L'Avenue Harry Potter, one of the main thoroughfares in the Potterverse! Very Happy

Isn't it funny that someone came into the Parlor and asked for a cup of tea years before the idea of opening the Marauding Café even came about? Cool

Did you ever create social groups?

More importantly what are social groups?

We do have the possibility. On the top right of the AV page, we have "Usergroups" next to "Memberlist".

I looked it up on the Admin panel, the only group now in existence is the Admins and Mods group, which is invisible to members.

We can create groups, though. Anyone who wants a group, let me know and I will create it for you. Groups can be "open", "closed" or "invisible". Obviously we don't want another Invisible group, but we can do Open or Closed. In fact, our AV's CoS is sort of a group, since a member needs to have permission to even look in.

An open group, obviously, anyone can join. A closed group I guess is accessible by invitation. I'll have to explore the possibilities.

A "social group" is a group of members with similar interests. They have tons of those on CoS. Here we call it "usergroup" but it's the same thing, except that here, a Mod has to create the group, as far as I know a member can't, since it involves going into the Administration panel, and you need an Admin's password to do that.

Ok so for example when were all descussing Dragons? I take it that would be a group if we chose to have one?

If the above statement is true then I am still not sure of the point as talking on the threads would just be the same surly? with the obvious exception if the group was closed and that would just imply that you don't want a particular person to give their opinion on what your talking about.
