Pop thief! the classical music that inspired pop songs

Re: 'Procul Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale / Bach - Air on the G String'
- when the group was on my radio show and I asked if they were influenced
by Bach, they said they'd never heard of Bach.

Very interesting. For the most part, I never knew all those pop songs came from classical music!

It would make a good category for the Ten Songs game!

I didn't have the patience to go through the list of pop songs inspired by classical music, but I'm wondering -

Did they include Beethoven's "Für Elise" (Lettre à Élise in French) that became "Passion Flower (of my Heart)" in English and "Tout l'amour que j'ai pour toi" in French? I can't remember who sang it in English, but in French, Dario Moreno and Dalida did.
