I guess you can't argue with taste. Apart from "L'avventura", I don't think much of this selection. There are so many more beautiful love songs than those in that video. Even with the same singer. If I had to put Adamo in, and though I like "Tombe la neige", I think that, for example, "Reviens-moi" is a much better love song. "Tous les garçons et les filles" is not a "love song" per se. If I had to put in Françoise Hardy, I'd have picked "Le premier bonheur du jour" or "Au fond d'un rêve doré". I'd have put in at least one of Barbara's songs - "Ma plus belle histoire d'amour" or "Dis, quand reviendras-tu?". I'd certainly would have put in Moustaki's "Le métèque" and "La dame brune" or "La ligne droite". I'd have put in "La chanson de Prévert" and "Les feuilles mortes".

IMO that video wastes at least 20 minutes of its 36. Very Sad

I couldn't agree more. None of my favourite French love songs are in this selection. one

If one had to have Enrico Macias, I'd have picked "La femme de mon ami" as one of his best love songs.

Isn't it interesting that some of the most beautiful love songs in the French language were written by Belgian or Canadian songwriters? super grin

Yes, like Adamo, Jacques Brel, etc in Belgium, Félix Leclerc in Canada. I particularly like Adamo's love songs.

In fact one could start a category with Love songs by Belgian songwrights! Very Happy

One of the most beautiful love songs ever written is Georges Moustaki's "Le Métèque". Hearts

Joe Dassin's "À toi" comes close after that. Hearts

It doesn't have to be love songs. There are pretty good political songs, or even cowboy songs. Like Johnny Hallyday's Les bras en croix or Pour moi la vie va commencer.

Two great political songs, by Jean Ferrat:
