We're changing spam fighting policy. They come in at a rate of 50+ a day now, it wastes too much time to delete them all, and banning their IPs is useless, they just change it immediately and come back in.
So now we're letting them register. They can't post unless we validate the accounts anyway, so they can't do any harm...
You regular members, just don't be surprised to see all those nonsensical names or porn or pharmaceutical websites... Just ignore them the way we do.

If you're foolish enough, you might try to go to the website they advertise (it will appear if you click on their names, even if you're not an Admin or Mod - which you, personally, are, so you should know). You're welcome to try either buying Viagra, or enlarging your "family jewels", or look at some hard core porn. Have fun!!

If you're a real person and want to register, post a message in the Walk into My Parlor sub-forum, giving the username you chose, and the date when you tried to register, so we can find you among the hundreds of spam accounts.
If you turn out to be genuine, or someone we know from elsewhere, we will then validate your account.

Congratulations, Admins! The aV membership has almost tripled in the two weeks you stopped zapping spam members. There used to be around 150 members. Last I looked, there were over 500, all with either nonsensical names or the name of the products they're promoting.

Actually, after it passed the 500 mark, I got tired of seeing all those nonsensical names, or "Buy Viagra" or "Hot Babes" with links to sites with "porn" in the name, so we zapped them again as they come in, at a rate of about 50 a day... *sigh*
I really don't know why they waste their time and ours like that. They are zapped as soon as we spot them, and even when we let them stay "registered", they can't post as long as the account is not validated. so what's the point? *shrug*
